Wisdom On Item Upgrader From An Older Five-Year-Old
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades can be used to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type, it may increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.
Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specific amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's base stats increases when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on who you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to how many perks need to be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.
The level of an item is a commonly used measure of power, and is visible on all tooltips for items. It can also be used to limit how much PvP gear players can use since PvP is not available at lower levels. Players can see their average level of items on their character sheet.
Utilizing the level of an item can help players evaluate the power of equipment when deciding to purchase or sell. It's an indicator of the item's damage and quality. The level of the item can be used to evaluate items when examining the inventory of a seller.
The level of the item can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including the ilvl. It can also be located by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then entering /itemlevel into chat.
There are several theories about how the item level is calculated. One theory says that the level of an item is calculated using a formula that calculates the worth of the stats of an item really are. It considers that different advantages are valued differently and that gems in the sockets increase the item's value. This can lead to a calculated item's ilvl that is usually very close to Blizzard's real item level.
It's not the only factor that influences the level of an item. The degree of the area in which the item was dropped can alter its stats. For example it can add a level to the item's haste or crit score. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more ilvl than those from lower-level instances.
Item Stats
Item stats can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game uses a variety of them in various ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and to prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stats of a base weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modifications which are then increased by the player's skill.
Upgrades to the item add by increasing certain stats on the item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. A white or grey item for instance, can only be upgraded once and items that has rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times at higher costs.
Affixes are a different method to change an item's stats. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to give items extra damage or other special abilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs), or to distinguish them by adding a name.
Currently, all affixes can be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using circles arrows. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold and items, which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other options for rerolling.
In addition to rerolling affixes, players can select which stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However every item will contain at least one stat in the same range, unless it's an exclusive item, or a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could change is the option to upgrade equipment without having to reroll attachments, or pick which stats to boost. Like the base equipment, this will have to be done per item and the item upgrade comparison interface wouldn't display all possible stats at once.
Item Luck
A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the chances of item discoveries as well as the properties that appear on loot drops and the strength of the properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives the player a possibility to obtain better equipment in earlier waves and is thus more valuable in early game runs than later ones as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over raw damage gains.
Luck can also boost the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability which increases with each item level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields and weapons have an initial Luck value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on their material type) for a further +40 luck, or to increase the Luck of an item upgrade up to 140.
Moreover, certain items, such as the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items are available at the store, or they can be crafted using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Item upgrades are expensive and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the success rate of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their items if it is not successful.
When you upgrade an item the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading the item and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to the extent to which the success rates can be improved and the chance of a failed upgrade cannot be greater than 100%..
The success of an can be affected by the luck of that item. All items have a base success rate of 25%, and every item that has Luck increases the chance of success by an additional 5percent.
It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory therefore enchantment glints and other effects could be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
