Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The statistics of an item are improved by upgrading it, also referred to as "upping". Each upgrade increment provides a linear increase in a given stat.

Players can recycle up to six items at a time in order to gain an ability to gauge the level of each of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling items scales according to their rarity and level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade to an item is a method to increase the stats of your armor and weapons. This can be achieved through various methods, including using upgrade components as well as increasing an item's mark level or rarity. Additionally to this, many items can be reforged to increase their stats.

Upgradeable items can be found throughout the game, both around the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also make them. The main way to upgrade gear is through the use of upgrade components which are items that can be inserted into equipment. Most equipment has slots for upgrading and some require a certain amount of upgrade. Some upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while others offer general bonuses.

There are several types of upgrade components available in the game, such as universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, such as gemstones and enchantments can be used in any kind of equipment and offer fewer bonuses than those that are equipment type specific to the type of equipment. Glyphs can only be placed in gathering tools and provide various bonuses, ranging from increasing the speed of an item's gathering to providing additional crafting materials.

Select the item in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. The preview will be displayed on the right hand side of the screen. It will display the expected stats after the upgrade. If you don't possess enough of either the upgrade button will say Blocked.

The upper-right corner displays the number of upgrade components needed for the specific item upgrader Mod. The price of an upgrade increases with the level and rarity of the item increase. However you can cut down on the cost of upgrades by purchasing them from a seller or trading them with other players.

Most weapons can be improved with a prefix, such as a rune, or an insignia, and others can be upgraded by adding an suffix. These upgrades can be used to add an adjective to the name of the item for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to communicate visual information. They are animated to grab the viewer's attention and spur curiosity in the brain. The glyphs' animation mimics body language, making them even more effective in communicating messages across language barriers. Glyphs also create a sense of familiarity in the brain, which increases retention of the message.

Each glyph has a range of values it can improve a stat by according to the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an artifact. This is the highest value that a glyph can improve a stat by, not the amount that it actually increases it by. The value of the glyph is contingent on the tier and the quality of the item you are in awe of.

Most upgrade components slotted into items can't be replaced or salvaged without removing the gear in question, unless it is legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use, but it's not been applied to gear yet, you can transfer the item to another piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu in the Glyphs Panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.

If you want to remove a glyph from a piece of, you will need to save it using an Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item where the glyph is installed will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be recovered by removing the glyph fragments.

The addition of a glyph to an item could cause it to become unstable and the shards that are left of that glyph will disappear from your inventory once you take it down. You can also add an inscription to your equipment to give it an additional benefit. For example the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and deal it slowly rather than all at once. This can be helpful for those who take lots of damage from their enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens permit players to change the affixes of their weapons and equipment and they can be obtained through a variety of methods such as in mistery boxes or as an uncommon drop from skulled creatures, or by killing bosses. Every reroll grants the player an affix randomly chosen and usually better than what they had prior to. Reroll tokens are also a great way to reroll weapon stats, which can be upgraded to provide better damage or perks.

Items that have been rerolled may not appear in the upgrade menu, however they still qualify to receive upgrades. By pressing the "upgrade button", you can recycle these items that have been rerolled. This will alter the layout of the item's window, and allow up to six items to be chosen for recycling. The level gauge is increased by recycling an item. The amount is determined by the rarity of the item level upgrade and its level. Thus, items with higher levels are more valuable for recycling than lower-leveled ones.

Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to roll rerolling Weapon Traits for upgraded units. Rerolls roll a percentage chance for a weapon's trait. If it scores higher, then the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower the weapon remains as is. Weapons can be upgraded up to 3 times.

Rerolling is a fantastic way to upgrade an item. However, players must be aware of the fact that the total ilvl is diminished by the number of rerolls it took to get it to the final ilvl. This is evident on Rings and Diadems as they have no other options for raising ilvl.

The system of rerolls has been criticised by players for being expensive and it's more fair to let people pay for it in the form of money or food items which would allow players to alter their builds without wasting time and energy. However paying for rerolls is not something the developers want to incorporate at this point in the game's development. Instead, they're planning to include an ability to change races in the near future.

Leveling

There are many ways to upgrade an item. The most effective method to level up an upgrade to an item is to increase the amount of upgrade. This increases the upgrade value for the stat. The second option is to boost the impact of the upgrade, which increases the healing or damage for a stat. Finally, there is the ability to upgrade the base item to an upgrade type. The upgraded item will keep its iLevel but have the upgraded effects of the upgraded item.

When upgrading items it is essential to keep in mind that upgrades are not guaranteed. In most cases a better roll is based on the glyphs. However there are occasions when a greater or special roll may occur. The type of the item will determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a rare or unique item to a special item type, then it has a chance of receiving an upper level.

Upgrading items can be costly especially when you're upgrading an item upgrader mod of gear from the normal to legendary track. The cost will depend on the item's iLevel base and the number of upgrade levels it has. In addition, some upgrade tracks require crests to get to the next upgrade level.

If you're fortunate the upgraded item could attain the highest level on its upgrade track, and thus unlock an additional effect. This will give the item a significant upgrade value. The bonus effect will vary with each upgrade level, though. In general the effect of upgrading is increased by a factor of +3.

Depending on the item upgrades's base level and its upgrade process, the iLevel for the upgraded item will change as well. For instance an item that has been upgraded from being a scarce or unique item to an outstanding one can be expected to gain the Enhanced Defense of the new base item.
