WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item upgrades has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade items their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. For example, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items which can be used to improve the quality of weapons and tools, armor and accessories. They can be purchased by players from item level upgrade (reviews over at gissel-dorsey.federatedjournals.com) upgraders NPCs for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor with an button, which will display an image of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and the current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon as well as the chance to obtain a new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades are acquired via various methods which is both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. After an upgrade has been completed to a certain level of item for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This applies even if those items come from another set of gear.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced as well, but is only available after certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

Players have several choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests based on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through tasks at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in any difficulty to earn lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader for the item upgrading, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it does bring some changes to the process of upgrading. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level for all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests have one purpose and it's crucial to make use of them in a responsible manner. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
