1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is an excellent option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the robot's dustbin after it has filled up.

Both robots are adept at cleaning up surface debris from hard floors and carpets, and they're excellent in getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that help the i3+ navigate and clean up efficiently. The i3+ doesn't feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or other top-highest rated robot vacuum robots we test. It can be stuck on power cords or socks and have difficulty navigating between surfaces, such as carpet and hardwood.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including clearing out any clutter or toys it may come across. It's also an excellent idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so that they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is filled or the battery is low it goes back to its docking station, automatically emptying its trash into the station's dust bin and then resumes cleaning where it left off. The battery's life span is approximately an hour-and-a-half of continuous usage. It takes three hours to fully charge.

2. iRobot i7+ Roomba

The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line and comes with the latest technology. It has self-charging and self-navigating, but the most significant feature is the self-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for regular maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, which allows it to map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot using voice or via the app.

In our testing the i7+ was more agile and faster than our top choice which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surface kinds including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin, which removes major maintenance sources and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning robots routines, move itself around the room and sweep the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+, like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a sea of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It's got the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of households, but it also fits perfectly next to the table for a coffee or shelves where you can move it around like the magic device.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that can provide power without fading for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then releases cleaner air into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpets to trap large crumbs and fine dust. It comes with three suction modes that can be adapted to the task. It quickly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum and back.

The model comes with a dock which charges the Dyson to 100 percent within 3.5 hours. It also provides easy access to 2 attachments as well as the Wand. This is a huge improvement over previous Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's biggest drawback is its limited run time. The tests conducted by CR show that its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is an average not an extraordinary time for a battery-powered cordless vac. It's enough time to sweep the average-sized home however, it's not enough time to reach every area. (A second run is usually sufficient). This doesn't mean that this model doesn't have its benefits: It's lighter and mobile than the older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming efficiency is superior on carpets with a low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have a lot of money to invest in an expensive robot. It was able to remove the majority of types of debris in our testing and often went over the same area many times to give an extensive clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach corners and the edges of walls.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it lacks the ability to map that comes with more advanced models like our top selections such as the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. Because of this, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't as sturdy, and frequently runs out of battery power before returning to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 because it has less parts that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower recurring cost, has more advanced automation capabilities and is better able to maneuver its own. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.

The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most purposes, because it has a better battery life, can change its suction power mode on its own and comes with physical boundary strips, and can be operated by your phone's voice assistant. It also feels better-built and has a stronger motor, and works better on bare floors and carpets with low pile, while providing a greater variety of automation features.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a well-known brand in home electronics. It's not a surprise that they are also among the top manufacturers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has a cutting-edge onboard technology to navigate and avoid obstacles.

The app offers a variety of customization options for your robotic cleaner. This includes virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior customizations, docking frequency settings and much more. The app is easy to use and understand, just like other Samsung devices.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86 percent of it. However, it did not do particularly well in avoiding taller objects like cords and socks, which was disappointing. It's also more expensive than other models we've tested, and this could be a deal breaker for certain shoppers.

The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that you can access via the app. You can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature allows you to check in on your children or pets when you're away. The filter and the dustbin can be cleaned for an easy, quick clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with a self-emptying clean station, which helps keep the robot's bin clear and improves suction power.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Contrary to other robotic vacuums which are designed for both carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are specifically designed for hard floors. They have an extra wide cleaning path, as well as dust bins that are 2X larger than the competition. This allows them to clean the area for a longer period of time. They also have two side sweepers that can be used to clean around corners and edges. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also comes with AutoSense technology, which detects whether it's picking up dirt or debris on the surface and automatically adjusts the power level. The vacuum also comes with an app that allows you to view the virtual map, manage functions, and schedules. You can also track the status of the vacuum and then send it to the dock for charging with the touch of a single button. The app also allows you to personalize the lights on top of the vacuum using different colors, so you can easily tell which areas it's focused on or where it's got stuck.

The app also makes it simple to manually steer the robot in the event of need. My living room rug, for instance is darkly colored that can trip up some other robots. The HRV 425BL, however, continued to move across the border without registering the cliff. Also, the ability to program the weekly cleaning schedule is a fantastic time-saving feature.
