WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the item upgrade level by +3. A random additional substat is also increased with each upgrade.

The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item level Upgrade from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that can be used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will show a preview of an item's next level of upgrade, when there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and the current level of the item as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade items cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.

Many locations offer item upgraders which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of getting the latest recipe. The discount on upgrades increases with the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety means. This is both a benefit and a disadvantage.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with some new features added. Once a player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is true even if those items come from another set of equipment.

The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

Players have a number of choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

First, you must be aware that crests are only available for equipment with a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the more complex one may require as many as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities, or by doing dungeons or raids in all difficulties to get equipment of lower tier or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests are then exchanged with an item upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and paths.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it will bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For example, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment to the highest level possible for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. It's Best item upgrade to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear you can locate, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character that will be able to avail the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
