It's therefore prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.
However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also quiet and works while you are at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performing combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it also learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross contamination. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the bulky models of the rivals. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has 100% in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot mop we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an easy mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It's a pro at cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to create a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app also provides access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
