Three Wheeled Buggies

Three-wheeled buggies are great for strolling around the neighborhood or running. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver, even in tight places.

If you're looking for a smooth ride on your baby, opt for models with 360deg front wheels that can swivel. They are prone, however, to punctures. Make sure you have an repair kit.

Frame made of sturdy material

Recent figures have been released revealing that the three-wheeled buggie - that noughties symbol of more money than wisdom is on the verge of disappearing. They are being replaced by four-wheelers which can be more versatile in terrain, while still looking swanky and being easy to push.

The bigger the wheels are, the more your buggy will be able to deal with uneven surfaces and bumpy pavements. The larger wheels, both front and rear allow you to maneuver and more stable while walking downhill or in difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tried the buggy out with a newborn baby as well as a child who was 3 years old and found it extremely durable. It was able to withstand cobbles, grass and rough pavements, aswell as dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath said that "it is solid to push and is very stable when traversing difficult terrain. The tyres, which are inflatable and need to be pumped regularly they have suspension built-in. This was extremely comfortable for my children.

Another thing to consider is the seat size and shape. It is important for the seat to be large enough to allow your child to be comfortable and to allow them to lie down. Some three-wheel buggies offer the option of lying flat that allows your child to lie flat and face you, whereas others only allow a parent-facing one.

The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road and muddy walks. The buggy can be used as a single from the beginning and can be modified to take two children when your family grows. It is suitable for infants and toddlers from age 4 and comes with a bumper bar, raincover, improved 5-point harness and a spacious cushioned seat. Storage options are also good with a large storage basket with zip pockets on the hood and a handy pouch at the rear of seat unit.

Wheels with larger diameter

Larger wheels give your buggy greater stability when driving on rough terrain. This is especially beneficial for buggies designed for off-road use. In addition, they help you maneuver the pushchair in tight spaces. Some three-wheeled buggies come with swivel wheels on the front, which assist you in navigating tight corners. Others are designed to run and have fixed wheels that lock to provide increased speed and stability. This is especially useful when you hit the kerb or a tree. The front wheel will be lifted slightly to keep it from hitting it.

A majority of 3 wheeled pushchairs have air-filled tyres, which allows them to handle a wide range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They're also lighter. However, they're prone to punctures, so you'll need to keep an repair kit, spare tube and pump in your bag.

Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo lux are among our top 3 wheel running buggy-wheelers. These buggies, as per MFM's Kath, have larger wheels which, she says "perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles", and can easily climb or descend kerbs. They also have a suspension system which, in her words "smoothes out bumps extremely effectively".

Buggies with larger wheels can be quite wide, and they may be a challenge to fit in tight spaces. This is problematic if you intend to are using it as a jogger, or need to fit through narrow doorways while on the move. The majority of models come with compact folding options, which permit you to take off the front wheels and store them in a more compact manner.

Easy to manoeuvre

One of the major advantages to a three-wheeled buggy is that it is much more maneuverable, especially with a child in the back. The way in which they are built means that the front wheels rotate at a whim and are really maneuverable, making them ideal for difficult terrains such as parks, cobbles, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried out a three-wheeler with her toddler and newborn and wrote: "The Terrain was a delight to maneuver on the ground, with the swivel front wheel particularly useful. I was also impressed with the way it handled bumps, particularly when using the hand-operated brake. It was very stable going downhill or on uneven terrain."

The only drawback to this great maneuverability, is that the larger wheels of the 3 wheel parent facing pushchair Wheel Push Chair (Lovedoubt56.Werite.Net)-wheel buggy may make it difficult to fit into tight spaces. This is something you need to be aware of when your home is one of the cities. If this is a concern then a 4-wheel buggy may be a better choice for you.

It provides the lower centre of gravity at the ideal height for your infant and also providing great weight distribution for a simple kerb pop (it takes much less effort to push the buggy up and over the curb than you think). Kath, our MFM reviewer, also loved the space of the buggy. There's a easily accessible large basket that's quite spacious for a buggy of this size. There's also an excellent pouch on the back seat unit, and 2 smaller mesh pockets beneath the hood where you can keep your keys and phone.
