For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used while you're at work, or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This top-performing mop and vacuum combination utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted area which prevents cross-contamination. 3. IRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competition's compact models, this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive looking models in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot vacuum cleaner that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuum cleaner reviews in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings prior to work or at night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and better-looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best rated robot vacuum robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and dries the mop pads.

If you have a bigger home, it's worth selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. A stair mode can be useful if you have a large furniture. Finally the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would think from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.
