Do Not Make This Blunder On Your Robot Hoover
The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover, extra resources, can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end functions (such as dirt detectors) are positives.
Make sure to check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Clean them as needed. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger one at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic hoovers vacuums we have test. They are equipped with motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other premium iRobot models (including the top choice) they utilize smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans that avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost, a feature that boosts the robot's performance when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept in removing dog hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our top option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and operates while you're at work or in school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performing mop and vacuum combo makes use of advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to take off and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a great job cleaning a range of floors and rooms that had mixed flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robotic automatic vacuum cleaner/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot automatic vacuum and mop robot and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy models from the competition. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It features advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an easy mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work or during the night when you are trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and a little more cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will delight most.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, as well as washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot cleaner uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the home based on how dirty the areas are.
For larger houses it's worth looking for a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your house using the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have large furniture. Finally the recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would think from its price. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that is washable.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to create the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It is equipped with a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
