The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end functions (such as dirt detectors) are both positives.

Be sure to examine the brushes of your robot for hair tangled and large debris and clean them as needed. Some models will automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger bin in the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top pick) they utilize intelligent mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it spots a lot of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

It's still a great deal for those whose home or office has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and works while you're at work or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you need to change the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and ensure better cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm is perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a good job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxy units, this mop and robot automatic vacuum cleaner and mop is one of the most attractive designs in our evaluations. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic cleaner and mop mop or vacuum that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work, or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing some more volume and a little more cost it's a capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the degree of dirt they tend to be.

If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice command. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have lot furniture. Additionally, a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you'd expect from its price tag. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a rotating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app also gives access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
