In our test of how well it cleaned baking soda from corners and baseboards, the Scout RX3 was impressive. Its suction of 2,500Pa was weaker than other robots but it was still silent and moved swiftly. It didn't mop, however and its cleaning pads were fiddly to attach and could not deal with dirt that had dried on.

The app is on the basic side with no advanced features such as multiple cleaning modes and automated scheduling. It works with Alexa but its voice controls don't seem to be very intuitive or responsive. It's also a little erratic when it returns to the charging station following an exercise. Other robots can follow the wall or trace an earlier route however, the RX3 stumbles around until it gives up.

Another issue we encountered was with its intelligent features, particularly the mapping function as well as digital keep-out zones. While it did a good job of keeping away from our shoes and furniture legs however, it was easily caught by cables and socks, and couldn't handle the tassels on rugs. We decided not to include the Scout RX3 in our Best Buy list. Still, with a decent price and a dazzling performance The Scout RX3 is worth considering if you're looking for an alternative to the traditional uprights.
