Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The statistics of an item are improved by upgrading it, also referred to as "upping". Each upgrade increment gives a linear increase in a given stat.

Players can recycle six items at a time to gauge each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling a piece of equipment increases according to their rarity and level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an item upgrade is a way to increase the stats on your armor and weapons. This can be done through a number of means that include using upgrade components and upgrading an item's mark level or rarity. Many items can also be reforged to boost their stats.

Upgradeable items are available all over the game, both around the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also make them. The primary method to upgrade gear is through the use of upgrade components, which are the items that can be inserted into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with slots to upgrade and some require a certain amount of upgrade. Some upgrade components give specific bonuses, while others offer an overall bonus.

There are several types of upgrade items components in the game, such as universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, such as gems and enchantments, are able to be placed in any type of equipment and offer fewer bonuses than those that are equipment type specific. Glyphs can be placed in gathering tools and offer various bonuses, ranging from increasing the speed of the item's collection to providing extra crafting materials.

To upgrade an item, click it in your inventory and open the Upgrade window. This will display an overview on the right side of the screen that shows the expected stats after the upgrade, along with any materials or components required. If you don't have enough of either the Upgrade Item button will be marked as Blocked.

The number of upgrade components needed for a specific item can be seen in the upper-right corner of the Upgrade window. The cost of upgrading increases as the level and rarity of the item increases. However you can lower the cost of upgrades by purchasing them from a vendor or trading them with other players.

Many weapons can be improved with a prefix, such as a rune or an insignia. Some can be enhanced by adding a suffix. These upgrades add an adjective to the item's name, such as "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".

Glyphs

Glyphs can be a powerful tool to communicate visual information. They move to grab the viewer's eye and stimulate curiosity. The animation of glyphs mimics the body language and makes them more effective in conveying a linguistic barrier-crossing message. Glyphs also improve the retention of a message by evoking a familiarity in the brain.

Each glyph has a range of values it can enhance a stat according to the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an Artifact. This range is not the exact amount at which the glyph will increase a stat, but the maximum amount by which it can increase a stat. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the quality and tier of the item you're in awe of it.

The majority of upgrade components that are slotted into items can't be repaired or replaced without removing the gear in question, unless it is legendary equipment and upgrades. If you do have a non-useful rune or glyph that has not yet been applied to your gear, you can move it to a different piece gear by using the upgrade Glyphs context menu within the Glyphs panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.

If you wish to remove the glyph from an item, you will need to save it using an Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item will be destroyed within which it is placed, but you can recover the upgraded item by using the glyph and its fragments, therefore, it shouldn't be considered as a loss.

The addition of a glyph to an item may cause it to become unstable, and the shards of the glyph will disappear from your inventory when you dismantle the item. You can also apply an inscription on your equipment to provide a bonus. Deferred Damage, for example can be used to store damage and then be dealt out slowly to the wearer rather than all at once. This is beneficial for players who are taking lots of damage from enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens let players alter the affixes they use on their weapons and equipment and can be found in a variety of ways, including in mistery boxes or as rare drops from skulled creatures, or even from killing bosses. Each reroll gives the player an unspecified affix, which is generally better than the one they had before. Reroll tokens are also a great option to reroll stats on weapons, which can be upgraded for better damage or perks.

Rerolled items don't appear in the menu of upgrade options, however they are still able to be upgraded. When you press the "upgrade button" you can recycle these items that have been rerolled. This will alter the design of the item's window and let up to six items be selected for recycling. Recycling an item adds a small amount of points to its level gauge. The amount is determined by the item's rarity as well as its own level, so items with higher levels are more valuable to recycle than lower-level ones.

Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to roll rerolling Weapon Traits for upgraded units. Rerolls roll the % chance of a particular weapon trait; if it rolls higher, the weapon will be upgraded. If it rolls lower, it remains unchanged. Weapons can be upgraded up to 3 times.

Rerolls are a good option to upgrade an item, but players must be aware that it could reduce the overall ilvl the weapon due to the number of rerolls needed to raise the weapon to its ultimate ilvl. This reduction effect is most effective on Diadems and ring items that do not have any competing ilvl-raising options.

Players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. It's more fair to allow players to pay for it using money or food items, which will allow them to make changes to their builds without having to invest excessive amounts of time. However paying for rerolls is not something the developers are planning to implement at this point in the game's development. Instead, they plan to add an ability to change races in the future.

Leveling

There are many ways to boost the value of an upgrade to an item. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade which boosts the value of upgrading the stat. The second option is to boost the effect of an upgrade, which boosts damage or healing for the stat. Finally there is the possibility to upgrade the base item to an upgrade type. After this, the new item will maintain its iLevel however it will benefit from the upgrade effects of the upgraded item type.

When you upgrade item items It is crucial to keep in mind that upgrades aren't always planned. Most of the time, a higher roll is determined by glyphs. However there are instances when a more or unique roll could occur. The item type will also determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a rare or exclusive item to a unique item type, it's likely to gaining an upper level.

Upgrades can be costly, especially if you are upgrading gear from the standard track to the legendary. The cost of upgrading an item will be contingent on its base iLevel and the amount of upgrade levels. Certain upgrade tracks require crests to reach the next level.

If you're lucky the upgraded item will get to the top of its upgrade track and unlock an additional benefit. This will give you a substantial boost in the upgrade value of the item. The bonus effect can change with each upgrade level though. In general, the effect of upgrading is increased by +3.

The iLevel can also change depending on the item's upgrade path and its base level. For example an item upgraded from being a scarce or unique item to an outstanding one is likely to gain the enhanced defense of the new base item.
