WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you an increase in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item Level upgrade by 3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

The cost of upgrades will depend on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool with a button, which will show an item's preview when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currency types.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade item coupon and a chance to obtain a new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only accessible through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit and a drawback.

In Season 3, the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and some new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a certain item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to that same item level will cost less, even when they belong to a different gear set.

The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is reduced as well, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are an item upgrader kit that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that Crests are only available to equipment of a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type of equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by engaging in outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulties to get lower-level gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons that have a high difficulty for gear in the endgame. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it brings some changes to the process of upgrading. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests have one usage and it's crucial to use them properly. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the Best item upgrader gear that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all of the slots are filled with high-quality gear.
