World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can increase the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and damage from PvE.

If the template for upgrading a weapon is %, it will be able to gain 3% of its previous damage for every time it's upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item's level rises.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons and trinkets to provide an extra stat boost or impact while they're being used. They can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading with other players, or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot for them. The item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level for a component to be applied. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are a type of upgrade items component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may be prefixed or a suffix changing the name of the item to the upgrade item (for instancefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to create stronger versions of that equipment with fewer Upgrade Crystals than are required to reach the same level of upgrade using normal methods.

A boost upgrade item can modify the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be created at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades are available for purchase them from the cash shop or by collecting them from enemies when upgrading other gear.

The player is able to have the maximum of five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of the item will be available in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue improving their equipment even if they're uncertain of how much they'll increase after a future reset.

The process of upgrading an item could be expensive, and it is possible that the item will eventually become obsolete, or even break, in the event that the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the risk of failure. Some upgrades also offer the player a bonus if they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade parts which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, which includes any existing affixes. Glyphs can be upgraded many ways, and we recommend getting them to level 15 as soon as you can.

In the endgame you'll often discover that the best way to improve your gear is to place Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to reach higher nodes more quickly.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without any restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.

Each Glyph has a certain range of values it can improve a stat by. The value is displayed when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of an Gem Store bundle or purchase them with certain tools that are unlimited in use and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs, you will have to put them on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus which will boost a specific set of stat nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Glyphs will increase the number of nodes connected to them, so it is best to place Glyphs in strategic spots on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. For example that a Druid should aim to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes however, you may also want to consider placing them near critical damage nodes too.

Leveling

The upgrade system for items lets players increase the performance of specific items by putting upgraded components into them. This is known as "upping". Every upgradeable item has an amount that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items may be leveled to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each item level requires a different amount of components and the cost of upgrading increase as the item is upgraded.

Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab of the crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields some Technology Points. These points can be used for leveling up an item. When enough points have been earned you'll be able to claim your upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When the player upgrades an item it is replaced with a new item of the same kind. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item also has its own bonus. This could be a disadvantage since the item may be more expensive even if you do not need it.

If the player has enough tokens they can roll the upgrade of their item. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This can be useful however it shouldn't be done often as it could waste resources.

Some upgrades can increase their value and allow players to modify their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides a buff if the player repeatedly enters or exits water. This item can be upgraded multiple times, increasing the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item upgrades is extremely important in PvP. A properly rolled version could be worth as much as 50x the value of the non-upgraded version.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to increase the quality of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets above ilvl 385--by offering the appropriate currency and items to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase the base defense of the piece, whereas upgrading weapons will increase the base damage and required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.

All items are upgradeable up to five times, with the exception for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Every each time you upgrade an item, it has an opportunity to fail. The failure rate increases the more you exceed the maximum number of upgrades. Failures can result in the item reverting back to its original state, requiring the player to pay more for materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades.

If an item isn't upgraded the experience bar in its growth bar will reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it earned like crit chance attack damage, additional effects (such as increased heal over time or the speed of reloading). However, the user can continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.

When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon increases its crit chance, the increase will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. Slots is a brand-new attribute that was added to item definitions. The value is recalculated every time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item are dependent on its rarity score and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading equipment that is not premium is equal to its base value. For example an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades for a price of. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items have a lower cost per upgrade.

Premium items have different requirements for upgrading than standard gear--for instance, they may require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons. Whatever the case, players will have to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade cost mentioned above, each upgrade requires the use of different upgrade ingredients.
