The best automatic vacuum cleaner robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are great features.
Examine your robot's brush regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them if needed. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin in the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture leg. They also feature carpet boost which boosts the robot cleaner with mop's power when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.
It's still a good deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also extremely quiet and operates when you're at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you need to, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This top-performing mop and vacuum combination utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it will learn the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also perfect for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did a great job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxy units this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our evaluations. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It features advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).
It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit which could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you attempt to sleep.
It's also a bit costly, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing with a little more noise and some extra cost it's a capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot cleaner robot vacuum cleaner best vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, as well as washes and dries the mop pads.
The smart robot vacuum that vacuums and mops utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on how dirty they tend to be.
For bigger homes it's worth looking for one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house by using the app or voice commands. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have lot furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It is a good vacuum cleaner and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've examined. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or organize an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
