WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item level upgrade by 3. A random extra substat is also added to each upgrade.

The more modernized gear generally has a greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for the latter due to the need to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item upgrades is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. The button will show the item's next level of upgrade, in the event that there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and the current Item level upgrade level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.

Upgraders for items are available in a variety of locations, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and the chance to obtain the latest recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require various methods that are both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. After a player has earned an upgrade to a particular item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to that same item level will cost less, even in the event that they belong to an entirely different set of gear.

The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced too, but it is only available once certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a few choices. Flightstones are an item upgrader mod that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and that every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, based on the type or gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level. This could mean engaging in outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of any difficulty to earn equipment of lower tier or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons that have a high difficulty for gear in the endgame. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and pathways.

The use of these currencies isn't too difficult, but the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable modification is that crests have one purpose, so it's important to use them properly. For instance it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the best equipment available and keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan on making. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The discount for the entire account will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
