WoW Upgrades - The item level upgrade Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. A random additional substat is also increased with every upgrade.

The more modernized gear generally has a higher trade value regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with higher variance due to the need to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be visited anytime to upgrade item your gear. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item however they'll always be cheaper than purchasing new gear. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that are used to level up weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool using the help of button, which displays an image of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot of the item and the current item level. For example, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations on the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no item upgrader available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and a disadvantage.

In Season 3 the upgrade system was modified a bit, and numerous new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading additional items to that same item level will cost less, even in the event that they belong to a different gear set.

The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced as well, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.

Crests

Players have a variety of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that Crests are only available to equipment that is of a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type or gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it will bring some changes to the process of upgrading. Once a piece of gear has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This is to allow players to get their gear up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the Best item upgrade equipment available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan to create. This is particularly relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which will only be able to avail the account-wide discount if all of the slots are full of high-quality gear.
