WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you an increase in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item level Upgrade upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of armor or weapons. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current it is recommended you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. For instance, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool using the help of The button will show the item level upgrade's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the item and the current item level. For example, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade item recipe. The discount on upgrades increases with the number of items being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This applies even if the items are from an entirely different set of equipment.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced also, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.

Crests

When upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade items. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

First, you should know that Crests are only available to gear that is of a particular rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and simplest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, contingent on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it does bring some changes to the process of upgrading. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade item their gear to the highest possible level for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. For instance it's best to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the best equipment you have and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan to create. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
