Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute bonus, or extra effect, while the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, found in loot, thrown away by enemies or received as rewards from missions or chests. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain point before they can be upgraded.
In order to upgrade the quality of a weapon or piece armor, the player must choose it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be as well as the component or material needed to complete the upgrade.
There are three types of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, can be placed in any kind of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions are gems that are only available in legendary and ascended equipment. They offer the same bonuses as jewels, but they cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, will add their name to the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding an Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the instance of upgrades for gathering tools, if a player replaces one glyph with a different one the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will damage it, except for inscriptions which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade process differs from the previous versions in a few fundamental ways. Gear is now categorized in tracks, and each item is able to be upgraded as many times before it is "leveled out." The upgrade cost is increased with each level however, the materials needed aren't as high. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a few items and maximize the impact of those items rather than spreading upgrade costs over multiple pieces.
If an item is completed and is leveled out, it will be able to receive a new set of upgrade components, and an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as Artisan's Energy. It resets at 0 if the upgrade fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its highest level, it will be able to receive affixes that will boost its attributes. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the item's kind. For instance an uncommon or rare weapon with a base that is normal will have only two affixes for it, while legendary armors will have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade step will require the use of a certain amount of Flightstones and crests to complete, depending on the current level of the Best item upgrade and the slot it's in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.
If an item fails to reach its maximum level, the NPC gives players the option to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a different set or upgrades. This process can take between one and two hours, and costs the same amount of materials. However, it has a lower rate of success.
To measure the height of a structure engineers employ a level to compare the measurement to a known reference point such as a benchmark or the ground's elevation. This process is called a "level loop." It involves taking readings using the backsight rod and level before turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. This method helps ensure that buildings are built to a high level of accuracy and safety.

In the past, certain upgrade items had priority affixes which made them easier to roll for than others. It meant that you'd get the stats most important to your build more frequently than other items. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns, and control impaired duration reduced stats or the weapons' bonus attack speed and strike chance.
This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling for each statistic. This can be a good or bad thing depending on your needs and expectations from your equipment.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers an array of set items that can be upgraded. Some items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets with high defense and set bonuses. However, upgrades to weapons typically do not improve the item's stats much compared to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you have lots of armor or weapons already.
