Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons, and trinkets to give an extra stat boost or impact while they're being used. They can be acquired through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment with a slot for them. The item must be at least upgraded to the blue level for a component to be inserted. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment, as well as some of the items that are not ascending back.
