WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you an increase in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade item.

The more modernized gear generally has a greater value for trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less useful for the latter due to the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. button, which displays an image of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the item and the current item upgrader mod level. For example, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases with the number of items being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only accessible via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit and an issue.

In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. After a player has earned an upgrade to a particular level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading additional items to the same level will cost less even when they belong to an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced also, but is only available once certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW, players have a couple of options. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests can only be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complicated can require as much as 20 crests, based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. Crests can be exchanged at an item level Upgrade upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it will bring some changes to the process of upgrading. Once a piece of gear reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests have one use and it's crucial to use them properly. For instance, it's a good idea make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrader equipment available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, that will be able to benefit from the account-wide discount when all of the slots are full of high-quality equipment.
