The 10 Most Scariest Things About Item Upgrader
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it may increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level and boost additional stats.
Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a specific amount.
Item Level
When an item gets upgraded, its stats are increased in value. This is the sum of all of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive, dependent on the upgrader and what type of upgrade you choose to do. This is due to the sheer number of perks that need to be altered to upgrade an item.
It can also be used as a gating requirement while queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It is also used to limit how much PvP gear players can wear as PvP is restricted at a lower level. Players can view their average level of items on their character sheet.
When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment, players can compare the level of an item. It's a useful indicator of the quality of an item and how much damage it's capable of dealing with. Comparing items from a vendor's stock is possible using the item's level.
The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.
There are several theories about the method by which the level of an item is determined. One theory is that the level is a numerical value derived from a formula that determines the value of an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration that different benefits are valued differently and that gems in the sockets increase the item's value. This can lead to an item's ilvl calculated, which is usually very close to Blizzard's real item level.
It's not the only factor that affects the level of an item. The location of where the item was dropped can alter its stats. For example it can add a level to the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher the ilvl than items from lower level instances.
Item Stats
Stats on an item are a significant part of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses them in a variety of ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to one weapon and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The stat modifications of an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then enhanced by the player's level.
Item upgrades add to that by boosting certain stats on the item. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a grey or white item level upgrade can only be upgraded once, while an item with rare levels will be upgraded multiple times, at higher costs.
Another method to alter the stats of an item is to use affixes. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. Affixes are used to give items extra damage, special abilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs), or to differentiate them by adding a name.
Presently, all affixes are able to be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circles arrows. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold and items that can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other options for rerolling.
Players can upgrade an item to a specific stat, or reroll the affixes. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However, all items will have at least one stat in the same range, unless it's a unique item, or a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could be changed is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to reroll affixes, or choose which stats to boost. Similar to the base equipment, this will have to be done per item and the item comparison interface wouldn't display all possible stats at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the odds of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the strength of the properties. It doesn't, however directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade gear earlier in the game. This is more advantageous for early game runs, since players tend to prioritize defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.
In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance which increases with each level of the item and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
The shields, armor, and weapons have an initial Luck value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) for a further +40 luck or to boost an item's existing Luck up to 140.
Certain items, such as the weapon with Hollow-infused components, can also be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any skill that deals damage by 5%. These items can be purchased in the shop or created using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Item upgrades are a costly process and not all upgrades will be successful. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to boost their chance of success or stop themselves from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.
The rate of success of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of completing the upgrade successfully and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased so high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%.
The luck of an item can influence the success of an upgrade. Every item upgrader kit has an overall success rate of 25 percent and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.
The item upgrade overlays are rendered above items in the inventory. This could block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
