Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade their weapons and equipment with new affixes, boosting its base stats or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.

Typically, items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, while items with strong bases such as eth titans do not vary in their stats following being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be used to upgrade trinkets, armor, weapons and tools for gathering, offering an attribute bonus or additional effect when the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, found in loot from enemies, or received from chests and missions. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player will need to select it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be, as well as the material or component needed for the upgrade to take place.

There are three kinds that are universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, such as gems, are able to be placed on any type of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type limitation. Infusions are jewels that are only available in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They provide the same bonuses as jewels, but they cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They will add the suffix at the end of the item's name. For example, adding a Glyph will transform the staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If the player upgrades their gathering tool and replaces the glyphs with a different one the old one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, excluding inscriptions which can be freely swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from the previous versions in a few key ways. Gear is now classified into tracks, and each Best item upgrader can only be upgraded a certain number of times before it's "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level however, the materials needed do not increase as much. This lets players focus their efforts on a handful of key items and maximize their impact, instead of spreading the upgrade costs across several pieces.

This allows the item to receive new upgrade components and a greater chance of success. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy and it resets to 0 in the event of failure, or increases when the upgrade succeeds.

After a piece has been upgraded to its maximum level, it is able to get the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The number of affixes available depends on the item's base type. For instance the rare or exclusive weapon with a normal base will only have two affixes to choose from, whereas a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes for it.

Each upgrade will require a specific amount of Flightstones or Crests, based on whether the item is at its current level and in what slot it is in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item does not get to its maximum level the NPC will offer the player the option of transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with another set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and will cost the same amount of materials. However it has a lower rate of success.

To measure the height of a structure engineers employ a level to compare the measurement with an established reference point, like a benchmark or the ground's elevation. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method makes sure that buildings are built to a high standard of accuracy and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a crucial aspect of the game and can significantly increase the strength of an item or damage, as well as other attributes. You can do this through the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button whenever you upgrade an item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be used sparingly.

Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another item of the same type. Recyclable items have an indicator that indicates the level of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and upgrade cost of the item.

In the past, certain upgrade items had priority affixes which made them easier to roll for than other. It meant that you'd get the most crucial stats for your build more frequently than others. This included stats like armor's total armour, thorns and control impaired duration reduced stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.

This was changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for each stat. This can be either good or bad, based on what you're looking to get from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can come with a bonus that boosts the power of the item by a fixed percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added over the standard affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the better chances of obtaining a unique bonus.

The game also comes with a number of sets, which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on a unit. This is a great way to give the character more power without spending a ton of money.

Many players prefer to reroll their equipment and weapons, particularly in the early stages of the game. This is because rerolling could give players a faster path to a powerful character which allows them to achieve higher levels and progress in the game more quickly.

Sets

Sets are collections of elements that can be put together in various ways. They can have various sizes, contain no elements at all or have a single element. They can be utilized to organize data or to sort information. They can also be used for analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in various ways such as size and shape.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers a wide range of set items that can be upgraded. Certain items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Sets of armor that offer high defense or set bonuses are usually worth upgrading. Weapon upgrades aren't as effective in boosting stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you own many armor pieces or weapons.

Set items can be upgraded to include special functions that are beneficial for specific builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements also increased).

Upgrades can also be made to bring certain items to the level of the levels. For instance the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower level items can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.

To see if an item upgrader kit is worth upgrading, players should click the Upgrade button on their screen of their character. The attributes of the item will be displayed, along with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Alternately, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the upgrade requirements of specific items.

In general, weapons and armor have higher value when they are updated. Particularly, for weapons that feature damage glyphs for spells or weapons and are upgraded to gold is recommended as it will give a substantial increase in their performance. The armor that has a new appearance will also benefit from this because its defense will increase as it goes from purple to gold.
