Path of Exile Item Upgrading

In Path of Exile, item upgrading is one of the most effective ways to upgrade your gear without relying on big-ticket drops or trade. This article will teach you how to upgrade your gear effectively.

Upgrades in equipment can add an additional bonus to the Best item upgrader's base stats. This bonus scales with the upgrade component's level and rarity.

Components

Upgrade components are the items that improve your armor and weapons more effective. They can be found by destroying enemies, purchasing them from karma sellers or finding them in the form of item upgrader mod-spheres. You can also get them from equipment that has the components or by using high-tier salvage kits such as Black Lion Salvage Kit and Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrade components cannot be destroyed by removing them from an item.

Upgrade components are typically used to improve an item however, they can also be used for other reasons. They can be stacked to increase the level of an item that can be upgraded or they can be used to enhance the amount of experience gained from upgrading an existing weapon or piece of gear. They can also be made to provide extra bonuses. For example, a created glyph can increase the chance of upgrading its target, and the boost upgrade can increase the attack or defense property of a weapon, or armor.

You can bind an upgrade template to an item by selecting it from the edition GUI. This will display the upgrade components to which the item can be updated. You can also use the workbench when selecting an upgrade template. In either instance, the item will be upgraded once enough upgrade components are gathered.

Each component has its own experience multiplier. This determines the amount of experience an item can gain when upgraded with that component. Organic components, for instance have an increased multiplier of experience than mechanical components. It is therefore recommended to upgrade with organic components until you have reached the experience multiplier for the next rank of the equipment or weapon, and then switch to mechanical upgrades.

Each item comes with an upgrade maximum number that can be received. The number of items that can be upgraded is determined by their upgradeable rank, and the type of upgrade they can get. For example, the highest possible upgrade for a weapon is a weapon of tier 10. The most common weapon upgrade is a tier 6 gun and an armor upgrade of tier 5.

Sets

A set is a collection of objects that share the same bonus. Each item can be upgraded at the minimum once. The upgrade increases the amount of bonuses you can expect to receive. When you first upgrade a set piece or weapon, it will receive a +1 increase to its primary stat. On subsequent upgrades, the primary stats will be boosted a little further (for example, +1 up to 12+/13+/14+), and each time you upgrade the item, one of its extra stats is boosted randomly.

The upgrade of a weapon can increase its damage base, which may be necessary for certain builds. Weapons cannot be upgraded for greater maximum defence rolls than their base. Upgrading can be a good way to improve the value of a set and unique items, but it's important to note that they may not be superior to a high-level runeword in any build.

If you are upgrading an item that comes with an added bonus it can be rerolled a single time and the guarantee will reset to zero. Rerolling is the same amount of power dice as bringing an item, but the upgraded item will come with additional bonuses. The NPC [ArmorBoboko Boboko can upgrade your armor in Central Flarine. To upgrade an item, you will require a power dice of each kind (Dice 4 or 6 drop from monsters 21+ and Giants; Dice 7 drops from bosses) and the proper amount of Minerals and Erons. These can be bought by using Gold at the crafting table or in the Ultra Collection. The NPC will also provide a special reward for each completed tier of the upgrade process. This reward can be rerolled a second time, and the reroll will use the same materials as the original item.

Rerolling

If the player has enough rerolling tokens, they can reroll any item that they've accumulated during the game. When an upgraded item is to be rerolled, it will be exchanged for the version at a level 1 of the same item in another set. Reroll tokens are available at the store for a small sum of in-game currency. They cannot be refunded. The upgraded item will still have the extra bonuses of the first, but its stats will differ also.

In addition to rerolling objects, players can also alter the identity of any equipment by interfacing with an upgrader NPC. This will change the identity from an armored weapon to a weapon, or vice versa, all the while retaining its base stats and attributes that are required. The change will be permanent and affect all characters that own the gear.

Players can also boost the level of their item on any equipped equipment by acquiring upgrade components and interacting with the NPC who upgrades the item. This will cost a certain amount of crests and Valorstones depending on the upgrade track and item type. In the case of weapons, each step will add an additional 5percent to the damage.

Upgrades can boost the power of an item, but they can also reduce the quality of an item. It is therefore important to balance the two. Some items may not be worth upgrading and some will require to be upgraded to maximize their potential. One player may wish to upgrade the breakpoint armor by adding an interesting modification (% block chance or FHR) in order to discover what it could become.

Rerolling is a standard practice in Genshin Impact and other gacha-based games. People do it to gain access to a character or weapon they cannot otherwise get. The process of obtaining these items can be costly and time-consuming and the RNG gods aren't always willing to play ball. The only options left is to shell out real money or grind lots. Rerolling is very popular in Genshin Impact.

Leveling

You can choose whether to upgrade the weapon or armor when you upgrade an item. This feature isn't available in the current version of the game. I believe it was intended to to give some value to rare items, but as equipment generally drops quickly and can only be upgraded one level up, you'll usually replace the item before it gets old enough. It's also not worthwhile to upgrade items with gem sockets since the value of the gem will far outweigh the increase in ilvl with the upgrade.

If you click the upgrade option on an item, you will see a small window with the upgrade template of the item as well as the cost of crest and Valorstone to increase the item level. The costs will vary between weapons and armor, with the former usually costing more than the latter. The upgrade template outlines the stats that will be added to an upgraded item, and also the current ilvl.

The cost of the Valorstone and Crest is calculated using the current Ilvl of the item and the upgrade templates. In addition the ilvl of a new upgraded item will be reduced by the upgrade template's lvl decrease percentage. For instance, an upgrade of 8% will reduce the ilvl of a weapon by 8 to 8%.

In addition to the base ilvl boost, the item will also be upgraded in other stats, such as critical strike damage, PvE damage, dodge, block, and parry rating. These enhancements are also based on the upgrade template.

The amount of damage and defense that the item is able to receive when leveled up can be seen below the cost and upgrade decrease percentages in the upgrade template window. In addition to practice equipment, all weapons and armor gain the same stats when they are leveled up. The value of these stats will be determined by the market, with a perfectly perfectly rolled version of a piece of armor or weapon able to command much higher trade values than non-upp'd versions. The same is true for other armor pieces like circlets and tiaras.
