The upgrade of gear can increase its base stats, and sometimes increases its other features. The value of these upgrades is determined by their tiers, requirements, and the amount of random augmentations used.

Reroll Tokens
Reroll tokens are a way to reroll an acquired item, such as armor, weapon or ring. This replaces the item with an identical item, but with different bonuses. Reroll tokens can be a cost-effective way to upgrade gear. They don't keep the original item's level, and any resources wasted aren't rewarded.
The survivors can get reroll tokens in several ways, including the Mistery Box and rare drops from skulled creatures. They are also available in crates and chests or purchase them from the stores for $150 each. Reroll tokens are used to alter the attribute of a piece equipment such as increasing its damage.
Players can roll equipment in three categories: physical power, spell power and health. This will display a list of the item's current level and what it will be after being upgraded. It will also show the amount of Growth Stones required to do so. The amount of Growth Stones required to upgrade an item will depend on its rarity. Rare (blue) rarer weapons will require more than one Growth Stone, while uncommon armor only requires one Growth Stone.
After deciding on what to upgrade, players need to select the number of green Growth Stones they wish to use and pay the corresponding cost. Leveling
Leveling is a feature that allows players to increase the stats of their weapons, armor, helms, and trinkets. The Upgrade Station allows you to combine an item with upgrade materials, and pay a fee in Happy Tickets or Happy Stars. The process will consume the upgrade materials and grant the item an increased level, which gives the item an additional boost in that area. This process can be repeated until the maximum level for an item is attained.
Items with upgraded base stats display a blue icon in their slot. Upgrade components, unlike enchantments can't be applied to more than one item at a time. Additionally each upgrade component will require a particular number of items to be used and an initial amount for the equipment.

Certain items are better off being upgraded less for their increased stats, but for the fact that it allows players to gain the maximum amount of value out of a perfect roll on the item.
