WoW Upgrades - The Item Level Upgrade Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

The upgrader is located in every major city, and is accessible at any time to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. For instance upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to upgrade weapons and tools, armor and other items. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners in a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon or armor. button, which will show an item's preview when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot for the item level upgrade and the current item level. For instance weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.

Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require several methods which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, the upgrade item system was altered a bit, with numerous new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a specific level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading additional items to that same item level will cost less, even in the event that they belong to an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

First, you should know that Crests are only available to gear with a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, contingent on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

The use of these currencies isn't too difficult however, the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For example, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to upgrade items their gear up to the highest ilvl possible for all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount on the account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
