WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost in specific stats. Each upgrade item boosts the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks, to keep your equipment up to date.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which will show an image of the item level upgrade when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item upgrader mod has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Many locations offer item level upgrade upgraders which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items at the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only available through a variety means. This is both a positive and a drawback.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and several new features added. Once a player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This applies even if those items are from another set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut too, but it is only available when certain milestones have been reached.

Crests

Players have a number of choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item upgrader kit level upgrades. Crests are an important part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be spent on equipment of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, contingent on the kind of equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it will bring some changes to the process of upgrading. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they are only used for one purpose. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
