It's thus susceptible to become stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.
However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can work when you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad to a dry one in just a few seconds.

This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the boxy models from the rivals. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection but this was not foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
