The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot vacuum and mop robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Make sure you regularly inspect your robot's brushes for hair that is tangled and large particles and wash them if needed. Certain models also automatically empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in an additional bin at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've tested. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture leg. The robots also feature a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our bare floor tests They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top option. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a good deal for those whose home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and can work when you're at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to offer cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to take off and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross contamination. The flex arm is ideal to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean the entire house with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a good cleaning job on various flooring and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming it, something hasn't been seen in other robot hoover and mop vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This robot vacuum reviews vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy models of the competitors. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with a simple mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite loud, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. If you're willing with a little more noise and some extra cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and cleans and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home based on how dirty these areas are.

For larger houses it's recommended to choose models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home using the app or voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Finally the recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to set up an automatic vacuum cleaner and mop spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app also provides access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, however it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we've tested. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
