World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type it could boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specified amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its base stats are increased in value. This is the sum of all the upgraded perks (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive, depending on who you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the number of perks that have to be changed in order to upgrade an item.

The level of an item is a commonly used measure of power, and can be found on all item tooltips. It can also be used as a gating requirement when waiting to queue for dungeons and raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is capped at the lower levels). The average level of the item is listed on the character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell gear players can evaluate the levels of the item. It's a measure of the item's damage and its quality. The level of the item can be used to compare items when evaluating the inventory of a seller.

The level of the item can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the complete description of the item, as well as its ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are various theories about how the item level calculation is carried out. One theory is that the level is a number derived from a formula which calculates the value of an item's stats are worth. It considers the fact that different perks have different worth and that gems in sockets increase the value of the item overall. This can result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is typically very close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.

This isn't the only factor that affects the level of an item. The location of where the item dropped can also alter its stats. For example, it could increase the item's haste, or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

Item stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the best." The base stats on a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modification which are then boosted by the player's level.

The upgrades to items add by increasing certain stats of the item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. A white or grey item, for example, will only be upgraded one time, while an item that has rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times with more expensive costs.

Affixes are a different method to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can be used to give items extra damage or other special capabilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs) or to distinguish them by putting a name on them.

All affixes are currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade menu and pressing the green button. This will cost a certain amount of gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other methods of rerolling.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may also choose which of the available stats to be kept on an item when it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges for an item are based on the level of the item, but every item is guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within that range, unless it is an item that is unique or the result of a God roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the attaches, or select which stats to increase. But as with base equipment, this would have to be performed on a per-item basis and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player can increase the likelihood of locating items and the properties that are created by loot and the intensity of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game. This is especially advantageous in early game runs since players tend to prioritize defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading, which increases with each item level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, shields, and armor can be created or spawned with the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to add another 40 luck or to boost the luck of the item to 140.

Additionally some items, such as the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow, can be equipped to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be purchased in the shops or made by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to increase their chance of success or stop them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful.

When you upgrade an item the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on the extent to which the success rates can be improved and the probability of an upgrade failing cannot be greater than 100%..

The luck of an item can also influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. All items have an average success rate of 25% and every item that has Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.

The item upgrade (Click Link) overlays are displayed above items in the inventory. This may cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
