1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have examined. They have top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they utilize smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans and avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our tests on floors that are bare, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our first option. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a great deal for those whose home or office has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also quiet and operates while you're at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.
This top-performing mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it learns the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm is ideal to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on a variety of flooring and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our evaluations. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It has advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a concern in the mornings prior to work or in the evening when you're trying to sleep.
It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and a little more cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should delight most.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the home based on how dirty the areas tend to be.
For bigger homes it's recommended to choose models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house by using the app or voice commands. A stair mode can be useful if you own a large furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum cleaner uk vacuum to continue from where it left off can be very useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that is washable.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to create the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs to remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
