Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses such as crit chance and PvE damage.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons, and trinkets to give a stat bonus or extra effect while they're in use. Upgrade components are only available to equipment that has a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to a blue level before a component can be used. An upgrade can have a prefix or suffix, modifying the name of the equipment to the upgrade (for instancefor example 'Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players create stronger versions with less Upgrade crystals than they would require to reach the same level using normal methods.

A 'boost upgrade' can modify the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor.
