World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to an item are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type, it may increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.

The process of upgrading gear in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specified amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's stats base increases when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all the upgraded advantages (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades to items can be costly dependent on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to perform. This is due to the variety of perks that have to be changed in order to upgrade an item.

It is also used as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It can also be used to determine a gating condition when queueing for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is capped at the lower levels). Players can see their average level of items on their character sheet.

The level of an item can help players evaluate the potency of gear when they decide to buy or sell. It's a sign of the item's damage and its quality. The level of an item can be used to evaluate items when examining the inventory of a seller.

On your PC, you can view the item level by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item's full description, including the ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then entering /itemlevel into chat.

There are a few theories on how the calculation of the item's level is carried out. One theory says that the level of an item is calculated by a formula that calculates how valuable an item's stats really are. It considers that different perks are valued differently, and that gems in sockets increase the item's value. This can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl which is typically close to Blizzard's real item level.

This isn't the only factor that affects the level of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped may change its stats. For instance, it could add a level to the item's haste or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl.

Item Stats

Best item upgrade stats are a big component of what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses a lot of them in different ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and to prevent one weapon from being "the Best item upgrade." The base stats of a weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modifications that are in turn boosted by the player's level.

The upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. A grey or white item for instance, can only be upgraded once, while an item that has rare tiers can be upgraded several times at higher prices.

Affixes are a different method to change an item's stats. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can be used to give items additional damage or special capabilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs), or to differentiate them by naming them.

Presently, all affixes are able to be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circling arrows. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items, which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other rerolling options.

Players can upgrade an item upgrader mod with a specific stat or reroll affixes. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However each item will have at least one stat within the same range, unless it's an exclusive item or the item is a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be changed is the option to upgrade equipment without having to reroll attaches, or select which stats to enhance. Like the base equipment, this will have to be done per item and the item comparison interface will not show all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the chance of finding items and the properties that are created by loot and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It provides players with an opportunity to get better gear earlier in the game. This is more advantageous in early game runs because players tend to put weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increase with each level of the item. These can also be increased with the use of anti-materials like a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor, and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can then be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to grant a further +40 Luck, or to increase the luck of an item, up to 140.

Moreover some items, like the Hollow infused weapon can be outfitted to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items are available in the shops or made by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to increase their success rate or prevent themselves from losing an item if the upgrade fails.

The success rate of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading that item and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased by so much, and the likelihood that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The Luck of an item level upgrade can influence the success of an upgrade. Each item has an initial success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases that chance by five percent.

The item upgrade overlays are displayed above items in the inventory. This may block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
