WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boost in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the Item level upgrade has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like the eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item upgrader mod will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to keep your equipment up to date.

The cost of upgrades will be based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For instance upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor with a The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level if there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the item slot, and the current item level. For instance weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Upgraders for items can be found at many locations, including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only accessible through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit and an issue.

In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is even if the items come from a different set of gear.

The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is reduced also, but is only available once certain milestones have been reached.

Crests

Players have a number of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment that is of a particular rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, based on the kind of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and paths.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it does bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, when a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to get their gear up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests have one usage and it's crucial to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrader gear you have available and keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to avail the account-wide discount if all of the slots are full of high-quality gear.
