1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its sibling, the i3 EVO are the same robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. The i3+ is a great alternative for those who want a a fully automated, hands-off cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the dust bin once it gets full.
Both robots do well picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors, and they're very adept in getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we tested the i3+ does not have obstacle-avoidance capabilities, so it may be stuck on things like power cords or socks, and it may have trouble traversing transitions across surfaces like hardwood to carpet.
iRobot recommends you clear out areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, and include getting rid of any toys or clutter it might encounter. It is also recommended to keep the filters and dust bin clean to prevent them from becoming clogged. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is filled or the battery is empty, it returns to its docking station and automatically emptying its dirt into the station's external dustbin, and then continues cleaning where it started. The battery's life span is approximately an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes three hours to fully charge.
2. iRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is a top model from iRobot’s flagship line and is packed with the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and the most crucial feature of all -- it comes with a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can direct your robot using the app or by voice.
In our testing, the i7+ was more agile and faster than our second-placed model which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surface kinds including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin that eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning routines and to move around the room and vacuum the area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and easy with the iRobot Home app. After connecting we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world filled with vacuums with cords that look like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model feels like a sports car. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system is able to trap allergens and then releases cleaner air into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive stiff nylon bristles deep into carpets to trap large crumbs and fine dust. It has three suction modes that can be adapted to suit the task. It is able to swiftly change between handheld and floor vacuum, and vice versa.
This model comes with an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100% in 3.5 hours. It also offers an easy access to two attachments and the Wand. This is a significant improvement over older Dysons models, which require a lengthy charge and are a pain to store.
The main issue with the V10 is its short running time. The tests conducted by CR show that its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are not true. This is a typical, not an exceptional, time to run an electric cordless intelligent vacuum cleaner powered by batteries. This is enough time to clean the average-sized home, but not enough to get into every corner. (A second time generally works). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior on low-pile floor carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
One of the most well-known robot vacuums The 694 is an affordable model that's an excellent option for those who don't want to invest too much on a robot. It was able to remove the majority of types of debris and sizes during our tests and would often go over the same area several times to give an efficient clean. Its flat front allows it to reach corners and the edges of walls.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and navigate your home. It's not equipped with the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, including our top picks, the i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. It can get stuck on phone cords or furniture and often runs out of power before returning to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects, as it has fewer parts that need regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin and charges quicker.
The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries strips and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistance. It's also more robust, has a larger motor, and performs better on floors with low pile and bare.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It's not a surprise, then, that they are also among the top producers of robot vacuum cleaner top 10 vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is loaded with cutting-edge onboard intelligence technology to aid in navigation and obstacles avoidance.
The app offers a variety of options for customizing your robotic cleaner. These include virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior adjustments, docking frequency settings and more. The app is easy to navigate and use as are other Samsung devices.
In our tests of the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86 percent of it. It was not as successful in avoiding taller objects like cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models we tested which could be a deal-breaker for certain shoppers.
The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that you can access via the app. You can also create a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature allows you to monitor your pets or children when you're away from home. The filter and the dustbin can be cleaned for the quick and easy cleaning. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean and tidy station that self-empties to keep the robot's dustbin clear and optimizes suction power for each cleaning run.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots have been developed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. They come with a wide cleaning path and a larger dustbin that holds twice as much debris than the competition to keep the cleaning area clean for the longest time. Additionally, they come with two side sweepers that clean along edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model comes with AutoSense technology, which can tell whether it's picking up surface litter or embedded dirt and automatically adjusts its power level. The vacuum also has an app that allows users to see the virtual map, manage functions, and set schedules. You can also monitor the vacuum's battery status and return it to its dock for charging at the push of the button. The app allows you to personalize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum by using different colors so you can easily identify what areas it's focusing on or where it's gotten stuck.
The app makes it possible to manually steer the robot, if necessary. My living room rug for instance, has a darkly-colored border that could cause trouble for other robots. The HRV 425BL however continued to travel across the border without registering the cliff. The ability to program a cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving advantage.
