WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as valuable for the latter due to the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item upgrader mod used to upgrade the item upgrade is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current item upgrades level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar Item Level Upgrade will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool using the help of button, which displays an image of the item at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item upgrading and the current level of the item. For example, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade require several methods, which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. After a player has earned an upgrade to a certain level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading further items to the same level will cost less even when they belong to an entirely different set of gear.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players achieve certain achievement milestones.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW players have a few options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

First, you should know that crests are only available for gear that is of a particular rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, contingent on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing content at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of any difficulty to earn lower-level gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable modification is that crests have one usage and it's crucial to use them properly. For instance it's best to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the best equipment you have and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to avail the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with high-quality gear.
