WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. A random substat is also increased with each upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for those with higher variance due to the need to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item Level upgrade used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

The cost of upgrades will depend on the current level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool with the help of button, which will show a preview of the item at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot for the item and the current item level. For example, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item level upgrade upgrader at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as an issue.

In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading additional items to that same item level will cost less even when they belong to another set of gear.

The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut too, but it is only available when certain milestones have been reached.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW players have a few choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item upgrader mod level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

First, you should know that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests depending on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through working through content that is of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons with any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item upgrade in the proper steps and paths.

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it will bring some changes to the upgrade process. For example, once an item is at the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests with care, since they have only one purpose. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
