WoW Upgrades - The item level upgrade Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. A random substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear current it is recommended you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item however they'll always be cheaper than buying new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool with an button, which will display an item's preview at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item upgrader kit slot and the current level of the item as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. After an item level upgrade has been upgraded to a certain degree it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade item recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit and a disadvantage.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and numerous new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a specific level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will cost less even in the event that they are part of a different gear set.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

Players have several options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be spent on equipment that is of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated requires as many as 20 crests, based on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through content at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulties to get equipment of lower tier or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and paths.

The use of these currencies isn't too complicated, but the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests wisely, as they only have one use. For instance, it's best to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear you have available and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to make. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
