WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also added to each upgrade.

The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less useful for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrading upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher item upgrader mod level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item upgrader mod but they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor with a button, which will display an item's preview at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade items discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no item upgrade upgrader available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and a disadvantage.

In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. After an upgrade has been completed to a certain item level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is true even if the items are from a different set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

Players have a variety of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. They can choose to use Flightstones, which are a general upgrade currency available to everyone players, or crests that are more specific and consumed during upgrades on specific levels of the item. Crests are a crucial component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities, or by completing dungeons and raids in all difficulties to get lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

The use of these currencies isn't too complicated, but the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests have one use, so it's important to use them properly. For instance, it's Best item upgrader to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the best equipment available and save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with top-quality gear.
