WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item that is used to upgrade will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities, and can be visited anytime to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that are used to level up weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased from item upgrade upgraders NPCs for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display the item's next level of upgrade, if there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item. For instance weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Upgraders for items are available at many locations, including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and a chance to obtain a new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades must be acquired through several methods, which is both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with numerous new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a certain level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading other items to that level will cost less even when they belong to a different gear set.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is reduced too, but it is only available when certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a couple of choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used on equipment that is of a particular rank, and that each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by completing content of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an item Level upgrade upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and routes.

Using these new currencies isn't that difficult however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. Once a piece of gear attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all of their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. For instance, it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the Best item upgrade equipment available and keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which will only be able to benefit from the account-wide discount when all of the slots are filled with top-quality gear.
