Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade their weapons and equipment with new affixes, boosting its stats base or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Typically, items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, whereas items with strong bases like eth titans aren't affected in their stats following being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be used to upgrade trinkets, armor, weapons and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or additional impact when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, found in loot, dropped by enemies or received as rewards from missions or chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before they can be upgraded.

To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player will have to select it and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade stats as well as the required component or materials.

There are three types of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, can be placed in any kind of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions are jewels that can only be used in legendary and ascended equipment. They provide the same benefits as jewels, but they cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, include their name at the end of the name of the Best item upgrade they are attached to, for instance adding an Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If a player upgrades a gathering tool, and then replaces glyphs with another glyph, the old one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component the item will be destroyed, with the exception for inscriptions, which can be freely swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant variations from the previous versions. Gear is now classified into tracks, and each item is able to be upgraded so many times before it's "leveled out." The upgrade costs increase with each level, however the materials needed do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a few important items to maximize their impact, rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across several items.

If an item is completed in this way, it is able to receive an upgrade set of components, as well as an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is called the Artisan's Energy. It resets to 0 if the upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

When a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it can receive the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The number of affixes available depends on the item's base type. For example, a rare or unique weapon with a base that is normal will have only two affixes to choose from, while legendary armors can have up to eight affixes available for it.

Each upgrade step will require the use of a certain amount of Flightstones and crests based on the item's current level and the slot it's in. In general, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.

If an item upgrader kit does not reach its max level, the NPC will give the player the option to transfer it to another character and re-infuse it with an upgrade set that is different. This procedure can take as long as two hours and cost the same amount of materials. However, it has a lower chance of success.

Engineers utilize a level to measure the height of the building against an established point, like an existing benchmark. This is referred to as a "level-loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method makes sure that buildings are built to a high standard of safety and accuracy.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item upgrader mod. It is an important aspect of the game and can drastically enhance an item's strength and damage as well as other attributes. This can be accomplished through the item menu or by clicking the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling items can be expensive and should be handled with care.

Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another similar item. Recyclable items have an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and cost of upgrading of the item.

In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes which made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you'd receive the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other items. This included stats like the armor's total armour, thorns and control impaired duration reduced stats or the weapons' bonus attack speed and strike chance.

This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes were removed and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling each stat. This can be a great or bad thing dependent on your needs and wants from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can have a unique fixed-value bonus that boosts its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to the standard affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the greater the chance of receiving an exclusive bonus.

The game also comes with number sets that give the player a bonus if three or four upgraded items from the set are placed on a unit. This is a great method of giving the character more power without spending a lot of money.

Many players have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear, especially in the early stages. This is because rerolling can provide a much faster route to a more powerful character which allows them to achieve higher levels and progress in the game more quickly.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be organized differently. They can have different dimensions, contain no elements at all, or contain just one element. They can be used to organize data or sorting information. They can also be useful in analysing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways, including by size and shape.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers a wide range of upgradeable set items. Some items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets that provide high defense values and set bonuses. Weapon upgrades are not as effective in improving stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade in the event that your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already large.

Certain set items are upgraded for their unique procs that can be useful in certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).

Upgrades are also possible to bring certain items to parity with the levels. For instance the Immortal King set has a large level range, between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower-level items can enhance their defense, and make them more competitive in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will show the item's attributes and the necessary items needed to upgrade it. It will show the item's characteristics, as well as the required items to upgrade it. For instance the No-mouth face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Alternately, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to find out the requirements for upgrading specific items.

In general, armor and weapons have a higher trade value when fully updated. Particularly, for weapons that feature spell/weapon damage glyphs, upgrading them to gold is recommended since it will provide a significant improvement in their stats. This will also boost the defense value of armor that has a newer appearance.
