The History Of Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give you boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level upgrade level by +3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for those with lower requirements due to the requirement to roll an exact version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item upgrades used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.
The cost of upgrades will be based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are functional items that are used to upgrade weapons and tools, armor and accessories. They can be bought by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor with a button, which will show an item's preview when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the item upgrader mod slot and the current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. After an Best item upgrader level upgrade - have a peek here - has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.
Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades must be acquired through a variety of means which is both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. Once the player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is even if those items come from an entirely different set of equipment.
The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain achievement milestones.
Crests
When upgrading equipment in WoW players have a few choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests can only be used on equipment that is of a particular rank, and that each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade item costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, depending on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, dungeons or raids of all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an item upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and paths.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it will bring some changes to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. For instance it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top gear you have available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly applicable to trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which will only be able to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
