The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its price is surprisingly low and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Be sure to check your robot's brushes for tangled hair and large particles and clean them as needed. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dust bin and place it in a larger bin at the bottom. This reduces the amount fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they utilize smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept in removing hair from dogs. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a good robot vacuum deal particularly if your home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. It's also extremely quiet and operates when you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad to a dry one in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combo utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a carpeted room, which helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm is perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a good job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms with various flooring types, such as certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was great and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and it supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxy units This robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuums best that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's loud that could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you attempt to sleep.

It's also a bit costly however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it's more expensive and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum that mops robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house based on how dirty the areas tend to be.

If you own a larger home, you should consider choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. If you have lots of furniture, a stair mode is also useful. Also the recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum that mops vacuum to pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might think from its price. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app also gives access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
