Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into weapons, armor, and trinkets to provide a stat bonus or extra effect when they're used. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot to accommodate them. The item must have been at a minimum upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the back items that are not ascending. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade could be prefixed or a suffix changing the name of the equipment to which it is applied (for examplefor example 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of that equipment that require the smallest amount of upgrade items Crystals than is required to reach the same upgrade level through normal methods.

A 'boost' upgrade can change the attack or defence characteristics of a weapon, or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist These upgrades can be created at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be purchased by purchasing them in the cash shop or by getting them from enemies while upgrading other gear.

The player can get a maximum of five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of the item will drop during the next reset. The process of upgrading an item could be costly and it's possible that the item will eventually become obsolete or even break in the event that the upgrade fails. Some upgrades also give a bonus if they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade parts that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs buff the effectiveness of all nodes in a radius around them, including pre-existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded a variety of ways, and we recommend upgrading them to 15 levels as soon as possible.

It is commonplace to see in the endgame that placing Glyphs is the most effective way to upgrade your equipment. These are the only upgrade component which can be upgraded to level 15 and provide significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without any restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can decide to replace it with a Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will increase the value of the glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt could drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

When you have the desired Glyphs, you will have to put them on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus that will boost a specific set of stat nodes that are within the radius of the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.

The use of Glyphs Glyph can boost all nodes that are linked to it, so you should try to place your Glyphs near the most important nodes of the Graph to maximize the impact. Druids, for instance should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may be able to place them near their primary damage nodes.

Leveling

The new item will have a unique bonus. This can be a disadvantage because it can make the item more expensive, even if you don't need it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens to do so. The item level upgrade will be replaced by a brand new one that has a base of level 1 and completely different bonuses. This can be useful but it should not be used frequently as it could waste resources.

Some upgrades can increase their value and allow players to personalize their equipment. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or does not swim as a dolphin). Requirements

Upgrading armor set pieces will also increase the base defense of that piece, while upgrading weapon items will increase the damage base as well as the required strength and dexterity to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.

Each item can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Every when you upgrade an item it is given a chance to fail--the rate of failure increases as you exceed the maximum number of upgrades. Failures can cause the item to return to its initial state which means that the player has to pay for more materials than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.

If an item is not upgraded the experience bar in its growth bar will be reset to zero. In addition, the item will lose any bonus it earned, including crit chance and attack damage, as well as any additional effects associated with that effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or speed of reload). However, the user can continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.

When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest.
