Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it spots a lot of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept in removing dog hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.

Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also extremely quiet and operates while you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and an automatic vacuum and mop robot bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combo uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to take off and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm is ideal to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a good cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was great and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robot vacuum cleaner reviews vacuum/mop combination.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' compact models This robot vacuum cleaner vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive designs in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has 100% in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing with a little more noise and a little more cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine, similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and cleans and dry mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home based on how dirty those areas are.

If you have a larger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. A stair mode can be useful if you own a lot furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to create a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also gives access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It has an impressive 8000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
