Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE Damage.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons, and trinkets in order to provide an extra stat boost or effect while they're in use. These can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors, trading or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be applied to devices that have slots. The item must be upgraded to a blue level before the component can be applied. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascended equipment, as well other items that are not ascended. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it's used on (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). The player can have the maximum of five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item will be available during the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep improving their equipment even if they're uncertain of how much it will improve after a future reset.

The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process can be expensive, and there is a significant chance that the item could become obsolete or even break if it fails. A unsuccessful upgrade could destroy the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to reduce or eliminate the possibility of failure. Some upgrades also offer an additional bonus when reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade items components which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs can boost the performance of nodes within a radius, including any existing affixes. Glyphs can be upgraded in many ways, and we suggest getting them up to level 15 whenever you can.

In the endgame, you will often find that the best way to enhance your equipment is to use Glyphs. These are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded to level 15 and provide significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.

Glyphs, the sole upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced again, are the most common. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.

Each Glyph has a particular range of values it can improve a statistic by. The value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of an Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the many Glyphs, and there are some rare glyphs to be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you will need them to be placed on your equipment. Leveling

The item upgrades upgrading system allows players to increase the stats of specific items by putting upgraded components inside them. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned an amount that determines the final stats. Upgraded items may be leveled to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by completing upgrade item Recipes. These recipes can be bought from NPCs, or on the upgrade tab of the crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields several Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrading an item. When enough points have been earned you'll be eligible to claim the upgrade and also receive the bonuses.

When the player upgrades an item to a higher level, the original item is replaced with a new item of the same kind. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item comes with its own set of bonuses. This could be a drawback in that the item could increase in price even if you do not need it.

Upgrades to items can be rerolled, if the player has enough reroll tokens in order to do so. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it is based on a level 1 base and completely different bonuses. Some upgrades can be rerolled multiple times which increases their value and allowing the player to customize their equipment. Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade the level of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets over ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate items and currencies to an item upgrader NPC. The item also loses any bonuses it has gained like crit chance damage to attack, other effects (such as a higher healing rate over time or the speed of reloading). However, the player may still continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that, should a weapon gain an increase in the chance of crit it will be applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the definition of the item and the value is calculated each time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined by its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to the value of the base item level upgrade. For example, a common item might have five upgrades at a cost of. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Opportunity. Hero grade items have a lower cost per upgrade.

Premium items could have different upgrade requirements from standard gear. For example they may require fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons.
